If you’ve been around the capital this past year you might have noticed the rich art scene which we have been subjected to; from the Tate Modern to the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London can defiantly be called the city that never gets enough of art.

1. Henri Cartier-Bresson: A question of colour @ Somerset House

2. Juergen Teller: Woo! @ ICA

23 January – 17 March 2013

The Fox reading room of the ICA was drowned with one of the most influential photographer of its generation, Juergen Teller. He succeeds in picturing the artworld as well as manipulating commercial photography, presenting a collection of imagery which introduced classic images from the 90′s to family portraits or more recent landscapes. A great exhibit which gave great credit to the spontaneous character and a personal favorite.

3. Light show @ Hayward Gallery

Wednesday 30 January 2013 - Monday 6 May 2013

This definitely made everyone’s Facebook profile picture. A show that explored magnificently the experimental and phenomenal aspects of light by bringing together sculpture and installations that use light to sculpt and shape space in different ways. Featuring works by 22 artists, the show was a brilliant illustrative way of showing how light is so powerful in changing one’s state of mind.

5. Lowry and the painting of modern life @ Tate Modern

26 June – 20 October 2013

A major exhibition of landscapes by the much-loved British painter L.S. Lowry which aimed at reassessing the artist’s contribution to art history; a fine collection which proved the overall delicacy of his work, and his important parallels to the painters of modern life at that time, such as Von Gogh.
